Melinda Gates will focus on women in tech

Melinda Gates, former Microsoft executive and Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation co-chair, has said that she is opening a new personal office, separate from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, to help get more women into technology.

It is not clear yet what form the initiative will take but Gates has said she is also looking at broader structural problems that are making it more difficult for women to pursue careers in technology.

Earlier this year, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation announced that the foundation will commit $80 million over the next three years to close gender data gaps and help accelerate progress for women and girls around the world.
