Fashion Model Karlie Kloss launches coding initiative

Fashion model Karlie Kloss has launched two scholarship opportunities through her organization Kode with Klossy for young girls and women interested in computer programming.

The idea is to change the perspective towards women in IT and to get students to learn programming languages behind apps like Twitter and The New York Times.

The two scholarship opportunities, Camp Scholarship and Career Scholarship, hope to increase young girls\’ and women\’s access to computer science education.

Applications for this year summer camp scholarships are closed while applications for the career scholarships are ongoing. Each month, one applicant will join the platform to complete Flatiron School\’s online Full Stack Web Development Program. Scholars learn to build fully functioning web apps and develop an extensive digital portfolio of skills across HTML/CSS, Ruby, Java, Rails, Sinatra, SQL, and more. Upon completing the curriculum, Kode With Klossy Career Scholars will receive the opportunity to apply for apprenticeships with program partners.

House of Versace is donating $100 from every Palazzo Empire bag sold at any North American boutique to Karlie Kloss’s 2017 Scholarship fund.
